Lets say you do believe the Bible is always right (as in everything that it says is true) you need to keep in mind first of all, that everything it says to you comes from your perspective and your life's experience reading into that. In other words, each person's interpretation is different. Secondly... don't you think there is a better way to prove this point? This site is offensive in it's lack of explanation and exegesis, as well as the entire "Science Then" column. I love that since people in the dark ages in europe believed that the earth was flat etc... that all science before that taught such things...

The idiocy and simplicity and blatant erroneous interpretations here disgust me. I only Thumb Up this site so that other people might understand me when I say a purposefully ignorant and closed off Christianity is a useless one.

SCIENCE NOW:
Ocean contains springs.

SCIENCE THEN:
Ocean fed only by rivers
and rain.

Why is this wrong?
Why is it hurtful?
Here is the passage from the NIV:
"Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?"
In this section God is chastising and belittling Job, because Job began to accuse God. He asks sarcastic things to make Job feel small and put him in his place.
It has nothing to do with discussing Scientific fact. The bible has nothing to do with scientific fact. If you say it does you belittle it's meaning. You take something that is supposed to describe the very nature and likeness of God and turn it into a textbook to be criticized and possibly even corrected.

And if you WERE to take this reading from Job as fact, wouldn't you also have to take Job 38:8?
I think it would look like this:
THE BIBLE:
The Sea is being held behind doors

SCIENCE NOW:
The Sea lays in the lower altitudes of the Earth's surface and is held there by Gravity

SCIENCE THEN:
I don't know... but if I were making things up like this site seems to have no problem doing I might guess that it would go like this:
The Sea is being held behind doors.

Ok, I'm really done now... please don't show this to people trying to prove a point unless you are trying to prove that ignorant Christianity is a sad way to claim Christ.
